Jay M. Buckey

County Attorney

Jay graduated Georgetown University 2006 and Vermont Law School 2011. He lives in Grantham with his wife and two children. He has been an attorney with New Hampshire Public Defender since 2011, and  the managing attorney of the Newport Public Defender's Office since 2018.  He is also an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School.

 

As county attorney, Jay would work towards:

 

1. Starting a drug court for Sullivan County-the only county in NH that does not have one.

 

2. Increasing options for mental health and drug addiction treatment in the County, and working to increase pretrial services and supervision.

 

3. Increased support for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
